Community Involvement
Immigration law is not a transaction. It is the work of helping families build lives in the country where they have decided to make their home. That work does not end when a case closes, and at Murrar Law, it does not begin there either.
The firm is built on the belief that being part of this community means showing up for it. That looks like sponsoring scholarships for the next generation of Latino students at Elizabeth’s alma mater. It looks like supporting children’s homes across Latin America. It looks like standing alongside the Mexican consulate, speaking at churches and schools, and offering free Know Your Rights education when the community needs it most. And it looks like teaching, both in the law school classroom and in the free webinars Elizabeth hosts for the public.
Below are the partnerships and programs the firm is proud to support.
UWM Roberto Hernández Center — PALM Graduation Gala
Murrar Law is a Maestría-Level Sponsor of the PALM Graduation Gala, the annual celebration hosted by the Roberto Hernández Center at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. The Center is UWM's multicultural student center serving Latinx students, and the gala funds emergency scholarships that help Latino students stay enrolled and graduate. Elizabeth, herself a UWM alumna, has supported the gala since approximately 2014.

Casa de Corazón — 1K For Kids (NPH)
Murrar Law is a Platinum-Level Sponsor of Casa de Corazón's 1K For Kids family walk, which has raised over $200,000 to date for Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH). NPH provides housing, education, and healthcare for children and families across Latin America and the Caribbean. The 2026 walk benefits NPH Perú.

Community Education & Speaking
Elizabeth and her team regularly partner with the Mexican consulate, churches, schools, and employers across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois to deliver Know Your Rights presentations, career-day talks, and educational sessions for companies seeking to support their immigrant employees through difficult moments.

Free Educational Webinars
Every six weeks or so, Elizabeth hosts free Spanish-language webinars on the immigration topics that matter most to the community right now: DACA, U Visas, family petitions, deportation defense, and more. These are open to the public, recorded for later viewing, and built to inform, not to sell.

AILA National Mentor — U Visa & VAWA
At the professional level, Elizabeth serves as a National Mentor for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), training and supporting attorneys across the country who handle U Visa and VAWA cases, two of the most complex humanitarian protections in U.S. immigration law.
Marquette University Law School
Elizabeth served as an Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at Marquette University Law School from 2021 to 2023, teaching the next generation of Wisconsin attorneys the foundations of the practice.
About the Firm
Murrar Law, LLC traces its history through several Milwaukee-area immigration practices. Elizabeth founded the original Murrar Law Office, LLC in 2010. In 2018, the firm merged with retiring partners of Hochstatter, McCarthy, Rivas & Runde, S.C. — a respected Milwaukee firm established in 1983 — and with Attorney Cain Oulahan, becoming Murrar, Oulahan, Rivas & Hochstatter, LLC. Attorneys Tom Hochstatter and Joseph Rivas continued with the firm for several years before their well-earned retirements; Attorney Oulahan launched his own firm in 2022. The firm simplified its name to Murrar Law, LLC that same year.
The firm’s website was previously hosted at www.morhvisas.com; the current website is www.murrarlaw.com.
